Regional Voice Theatre Company

With the success of my one-man play, “Life and Times of the Tat Man”, the director, Glen Buglass, and myself have decided to create a new theatre company dedicated to presenting new plays which have as their inspiration the cultures, languages, folk-lore and stories of the Black Country region.  “Regional Voice Theatre Company” will also be committed to presenting this new work in largely non-theatre venues. and to bringing in audiences who are not traditional theatre-goers. One way of doing this is to involve people in the creation of theatre themselves, so an equally important part of our work will be the making of theatre with people in their own local and home areas.

It’s early days yet, though we are in the process of setting up two projects which we hope will happen in 2015, one a new touring play, and the other a new piece of community street theatre for Moseley. The street theatre will begin with a series of six workshops on theatre and performance at the Dance Workshop in Moseley, working with Tony Barrett (the actor of “Tat Man”) choreographer Helen Calcutt, and production manager Spike Barker. These workshops will be happening through November and December this year.

There will hopefully be a lot more news to post about “Regional Voice” in the coming weeks and months.  In the meantime, you can see another performance of “Life and Times of the Tat Man” at the Moseley Dance Workshop on Saturday 11th October, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £6 and there’s a bar and food. To book tickets phone the Dance Workshop on 0121 442 2286
